The print industry is aware of the adverse effect of poor maintenance of anilox rolls. At Draychem, we have developed a comprehensive on site roll cleaning service, which ensures that our customers presses are capable of producing first class results on a long term basis. Draychem are able to deep clean Anilox rolls on site using bicarbonate of soda blasting. Blasting the soda particles at the surface of the rotating rollers allows the dried ink to be broken down. A vacuum will recover the bicarbonate of soda and also collect any disposed material, leaving you with a tidy and effective clean. On press cleaning, suggest that the rolls are accessible. Whereas, off press will require Draychem’s own electrically powered spinning wheels. Likewise, the demand for soda blasting can be minimised or avoided, if Draychem’s specially design cleaning solutions are used. Once on site, our technicians will liaise with your staff to fulfil all logistical and health and safety requirements. Draychem technician will move the soda blaster to the press that requires cleaning. We may need assistance when required. On some printing presses, the engineers or electricians need to over-ride the safety switch, and remove any obstructing pipes. Secondly, the head of the blaster will then begin the cleaning process by transversing the roll via a motorised head mounted on an aluminium beam.
The area next to the printing units need to be accessible for the blasting machine trolly, which requires a space of at least 2.5M X 1.5M. The operation requires compressed air with a capacity of 1.2m3/minute (8.8kW) for blasting at 3-bar pressure with a 1/2″ main air line, with a tap connection. A standard 240v electrical supply will need to be easily accessible. Both air and electricity supply should be within 10m. A fork lift or hoist will be required on site to move any rolls off press.
An area of approximately 3M X 3M needs is required for setting up the anilox roll cleaning service to be carried out safely off press. We would also need a level solid ground to carry out the procedure. This type of operation requires compressed air. The compressed air will need a capacity of 1.2m3/minute (8.8kW) for blasting at 3-bar pressure with a 1/2 tap″ connection. Lastly, there needs to be a mains and air supply within 10m of the machine.
