Our Anilox Roll Cleaning Service – What do we do?

First of all, Draychem recognises the adverse effect on the printing processes from poor anilox roll cleaning and maintenance. We are proud of our developed and complete anilox roll cleaning service. Using our own traffic light system, enables cell volumes maintenance and print consistency.

Draychem are able to deep clean Anilox rolls on site using bicarbonate of soda blasting. Blasting the soda particles at the surface of the rotating rollers allows the dried ink to be broken down. Once the ink has been broken down, we will then begin vacuuming. A vacuum will recover the bicarbonate of soda and also collect any disposed material. Leaving you with a tidy and effective clean too. On press cleaning, suggest that the rolls are accessible. Whereas, off press will require Draychem’s own electrically powered spinning wheels. Likewise, the demand for soda blasting can be minimised or avoided. If Draychem specially design cleaning solutions are used. As a result, Draychem are always looking for new and improved ways for the printing industry.

Operation

Once on site, our technicians will liaise with your staff to fulfill all logistical and health and safety requirements. Firstly, a Draychem technician will move the soda blaster to the press that requires cleaning. Furthermore, we may need assistant when required. We may need the machine operator to move any print units or to start the anilox roll turning with the guards up. On some printing presses, the engineers or electricians have to over-ride the safety switch. Secondly, the head of the blaster will then begin the cleaning service. The head of the blaster moves across the anilox roll via a trolley and bar. Making sure that the position is parallel to the anilox roll. Additionally, this gives a nice even and consistent clean.

On Press Requirements

The press needs to shut down while the anilox roll cleaning is in operation. For this reason, the machine will be down for approximately 1-2 hours per roll (depending on the condition). The area next to the printing units need to be accessible for the blasting machine. In fact, we require 1M X 2M and on it own trolley. The operation required compressed air with a capacity of 1.2m3/minute (8.8kW) for blasting at 3-bar pressure with a 1/4″ connection. Lastly, there needs to be a main air supply with a shut off valve within 10 metres of the machine.
